The Competent Leader manual is the first manual in the legacy leadership track. A person who finishes the manual and whose submission to TI is approved may call himself or herself a Competent Leader and use the letters CL after his or her name.

Competent Leader is also the name of a former designation previously available from Toastmasters that was roughly equivalent to the ALB designation.

The Pathways program does not have a separate leadership track, instead incorporating leadership activities into most paths.
