Evaluation is a type of speech where the evaluator seeks to provide honest reaction in a constructive manner to the speaker. See Effective Evaluation, item 202. Most Meetings will have an Evaluation portion.
There may be an Evaluation contest as part of a speech contest. In such a case, a Test Speaker delivers a speech which each contestant, after being secluded so as not to hear the other evaluators, evaluates.
See also Sandwich Technique, which is one style of evaluation. Other styles include 1) interspersing constructive criticism through the evaluation, along with the praise; and 2) beginning with constructive criticism and finishing with the praise. The Sandwich Technique is the most widely-used type of evaluation.
