A Manual is a handbook containing projects and education with regard to speeches or leadership. Toastmasters International produces beginning manuals as well as quite a few advanced manuals. See also Advanced Communication Manual.

In order to receive a Toastmasters designation, a member will usually have to complete one or more manuals, although not all designations require completion of a manual.

It is recommended by Toastmasters International that speeches given at the club level be manual speeches.

In the new Pathways program, manuals will still be available, although early statistics from other Districts show that 99% of members are choosing online access instead of paper manuals. As for manuals from the existing educational program, they will presumably cease to be made available once the existing program has ended (which is currently set for two years after all the world's districts have started Pathways).
