Many clubs do a Pledge of Allegiance to the flag during their meetings. An individual is assigned this Club Meeting Role, usually in advance. The Pledge duty may be combined with an inspirational moment as well.

It is good practice to lead the audience by saying something along the following lines: "Please stand and state along with me . . . " That way, the audience is instructed to stand and speak the Pledge along with you. Afterwards, it is good practice to say: "Please be seated." Otherwise some audience members may stay standing as they wait for instructions.

Citizens of countries other than the United States may choose to remain silent while U.S. citizens recite the Pledge.
