A Tall Tale is a speech using exaggeration or a fanciful story, usually for the purpose of entertainment. While most Tall Tales are humorous in nature, that is not required. For many years, Founders District had a Tall Tales speech contest usually once every three years, in the autumn.

The Speech Contest Rulebook gives the rules for Tall Tale contests. Notably, a Tall Tale in a contest is to be 3 to 5 minutes (with a grace period).
