The World Championship of Public Speaking is conducted by Toastmasters International at the International Convention each year. Speakers must progress through the club contest, then the area, division, district and the international semifinals in order to get to the finals, where finalists compete. The speech type is the so-called International Speech, 5-7 minutes long, and the winner may not compete again in the contest in future years. See International Speech Contest for more detail about what the speech contains.

Whereas formerly, the finals contained ten speakers, in 2019 the process included quarterfinals as well as semifinals, and only six competitors made it to the finals.

In 2018 and 2019, Founders District has sponsored a "World Championship Viewing Party" locally, so that members not going to the International Convention can view the finals on closed-circuit TV.

At the 2016 World Championship, a local member of District F, Josephine Lee, took third place. At the 2018 World Championship, a local member of District F, Ricky LaCorte, made it to the finals. At the 2019 World Championship, Daniel Midson-Short, a member of District F, was a finalist. There are over 110 districts in the world, so getting to the finals is a huge accomplishment.
