Zoom

Zoom is a platform used by many Toastmasters clubs to hold online meetings. It became especially useful and popular in the spring of 2020 when the coronavirus pandemic required clubs in our District to cease in-person meetings.

Zoom has features which allow participants to see all other participants, to speak or be muted, to temporarily stop their own camera from sending a visual to the group, to "screen share" documents, to "chat" privately or to the whole group, and various other features.

Zoom has a number of competitors, and because of Zoom's great success in 2020, a variety of other companies came out with competitive platforms. Alternatives to Zoom include Microsoft Teams, GoToMeeting, Cisco Webex Meetings, Google Hangouts Meet and others.
